Livestock guardian dogs

Another great addition to our farmette and the protection of our livestock are our Livestock Guardian Dogs. LGDs are working dogs and will keep the animals safe from predators. Curtis (Black and white) is a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd Mix. Melissa (Missy) is Great Pyrenees and Karakachan mix. They are not related, and we do plan on letting them breed once or twice just to get a couple more LGDs on our property. Keeping siblings is not recommended as they will have a sibling rivalry much like humans, which is why we would breed them twice instead of just once, and keeping all the puppies from the one litter. These two pups are also from Fresh Start Farm, thanks Jeff!!

We have added two more pups to the group, Kimmy and Calvin. Calvin is another from Fresh Start Farm, with the same dad as Curtis, but a different mom. Still unrelated to Missy. Kimmy is from a farm west of Richmond and is a mix of all three of the breeds that make up our LGD pack. Welcome home Kimmy and Calvin!!
